What have i learnt throughout this project.

As an individual i have learnt to work with different people, combining our ideas to make a masterpiece i have learnt to appreciate time and cooperate in times of need. Being part of a company gives you a sense of togetherness you in it together and need each other every step of the way. along with this i have learnt to work under pressure, my directing skills have heightened largely and have flourished, as a group i would say we all took turns doing different things weather it be acting, or directing filming or editing. by allowing each other to work in each sector of the production industry you appreciate the hard work that goes into each piece and each work of art.

further more i have learnt to be analytical in media, looking at which shots look the best, location mise en scene and music. i often find myself subconsciously analysing TV programs and movies. and i feel that every time i spend watching someone’s work i have a deeper understanding of the network and process that goes behind the work.

finaly i say we have come through together strong and each part of our work reflects our individual charecter and i have found that i have learnt a new way to express and explore my thoughts, ideas and feelings

Technology used in our production process

we used the imac to edit our work and addmusic into the piece.

This HD flip camera allowed usto film our piece very effectively, not only is it small wich makes it versitlie and easy to manouver, it is also what we used to film our prelim.

this allowed us to capture any sounds in the piece.

this is the software we used to add music to our piece and more of a thrilling atmosphere.

This is our company logo and our film title. this gives us a sense of unity and individuality wich makes us also feel like professional production team.

Our target audience

personally i think our film will appeal to young audiences and so the cirtificate should be "15" not because anyone under the age of 15 wont be able to handle it, but i feel they wont apriciate the seriouseness of the actuall concept. The older people will be able to look at it as piece of art and understand that there are stalkers out their and people do get kidnapped.
further more, the film it self captures alot of distubing yet orgional film that could upset younger audiences however the film industried exploit scary films and use it to their advantage. the fact that films like "saw and "scream" are sensationalised and people crave the gore. our film is not about gore but the actual concept going on.

Who would distribute our film

Film production companies would support the developing and stages of production for my film. They would be the main people associated with provididng the money for the production process and the distributing of the film.Within the industry there are iether independent film compainies like Warp film, caravan films ect or the companies are mainstream like warner bros or twisted pictures. With these distinc  companies comes a distinc style of film which maily occurs within the independent film companies. For instance all of warm films distributions seem to be set in unknown locations or lanmarks, showing their audience what life is like for people living outside of the city. Also warp films seem to produce films that are to do with social realism or real life situations, like “This is England”. Unlike for instance twisted pictures. You can clearly tell from the name that they would distribute dark thilleresque or horror films such as “Saw”
Our film “I See You” would be produced by warp films based on their thier success with films such as “This is England” taking two bafta awardsand their what creativity and uniquenessfor producing films like “trash humpers” and other products like “rubber johnny”, with financial support from national lottery funding and the UK film council. the reason our film would go perfectly with their production compnay is because they have an orgionalfeel to the way they work and the way they do things. it isnt about the money made from the film rather than the message that has to be put across to the nation
Warp film is a British film company that first started out as a record shop, and producer of music videos, however through sheer success have expanded their tools and now become very diverse in their innovative films. They launched in 2001 and ever since have worked with iconic name such as director Shane Meadows and director and actor Chris Morris.
This is England is one of the most successful films that warp film have produced and worked with Shane meadows on. It worked with a budget of 1.5 million pounds that was contributed by Film 4 and the UK film council. They used actors that they took from workshops apart from a few known names such as Stephen Graham. It made £207,676 in the UK on its opening weekend, and a gross of $327,919 in the USA. Overall it made a total gross of £5,154,493 in the UK and $8,176,544 in the States.
Other successful/ recognisable projects that warp film have been a part of are:
·        Dead man’s shoes
·        Submarine
·        Four lions
·        Donkey punch
Even though however these British films are very successful it is still apparent that Hollywood stills makes the most profit which arguably is based on the amount of money they have to spend. And us as a UK audience are a huge part of that. I think it’s because of the type of films that they seem to display. Most of the films that make the most money are feel good family features , or they contain some new high technology or special effects that catch an audience eye. Just the effects and a complex storyline alone can make a movie millions in a short time before even thinking about use purchasing of DVD’s. For example:

This is England
Inception
Budget- 1.5 million
Budget -160 million
Opening weekend - £207,676
Opening weekend - $62,785,337
Gross - $327,919 (USA)
Gross - $820,186,685
Awards - 4 wins & 13 nominations
Awards - Won 4 Oscars. Another 45 wins & 81 nominations

What other charecters represent particuler social groups.

theese two characters are similer as both characters wear masks and hide themselves from the world. They both use knives they both have victims whether they may be male or female.

here both charecters are female and both of them are tied down. the fact that they are tied down makes them more vaunrable and more innocent. women are arguably the weaker sex and so they areoften used in victomising situation to intensify the situation at hand. it isnt often that women are found fending for them selves as it is a steryotype and it is more appealing.

Evaluation task one

This is the establishing shot for our film. We wanted this to be the first thing that people saw as it brings a sense of mysteriouseness and the dark atmosphere and surroundings adds to the thrilling element. the audience will wonder why the person is wearing a mask and what they have to hide from the world. also they will wonder what significance the pictueres have to play with the piece. the picture is clearly a girl and so we wonder how far it go.

the close up of the girls allows us to know that she has a main rolein the piece, the fact that their is a knife on the picture makes the audience epathise for the girl, as it almost forshadows the events tocome.the knife symbolises danger and its placed across the nape of her neckwichis even more thrilling.

the secene is deserted and isolated wich gives ann aroura for danger and a fearfull atmosphere.this was a reallyeffective shot beacuse first of all it let the audience know where they were and secondly its isolation gives off a very eerie feeling again putting the audience on edge

this shot makes the girl seem innocent and vaunrable, the angle of the shot allows us to see a twisted view of the girl,it almost makes the audience feel as though that this is how that stalker views her.

This particular shot is blurred. the reason for this was to create a very misty effect that let the audience know that things have suddenly change and are no longer as they seem.also its an over the shoulder shot so the audience feel like they are with the character watching their every move.

this shot is very sinister and for the first time the audience aremet face to face with the stalker. the audeince almost feel that they are the victim aswell

the shot is reversed and we see her facial expression and we see how fearfull she is. this is verry affective as we feel as we are one with her.

This mid shot shows the victim tied up in an unknown location. This particular frame is effective because it is very compact as you can see the excess props in the background.the audience at this point will be confused as to where they are and they will sense this from the victims facial expressions as well.

this shot symbolises her captivity, we see fully how he is free and she is she held downand his captive.

Location

When it came to finding a location to film our piece we contemplated allot of things.
* The area
* did it capture a thrilling essence
* would it look right within the piece.

So we went about to different locations and discussed the pros and cons of each area.
Edmonton green:

When we looked at Edmonton green we found that the location was good. However the only problem was that it was very busy and there are always a lot of members of the public about.
so we carried on looking.

Enfield Town
Although Enfield is a great area it was too commercial to many lights and shops that took away aspects that were thrilling.

Wood green:
Wood green was perfect for us as it fitting with our script and also it was quite and almost abandoned. Filming was not going to become a problem

Shooting scedual

The shooting script shows the pre-planned process of shooting each shot, it includes the time duration of each shot so we could make we didn’t go too far over the limit of maximum 2mins.
·         SCENE 1 – 15 SECS
The thriller opening begins with an over the shoulder shot of a masked man, focusing on a mask in his hands and other props he comes into contact with, this is then followed by a close up shot of a photo of the protagonist.
·         SCENE 2 – 99 SECS
This scene opens with an establishing shot of a car park, the protagonists walks towards the camera and then we continue watching her walk from behind with a tilted shot. An over the shoulder shot set in the lip, then zooming into the phone in the protagonist’s hand. We move to a close up of the protagonist to get a reaction shot, and then final over the shoulder shot to see what she has seen before finishing with a cut to the production group logo
·         SCENE 3 – 37 SECS
This final scene starts with a medium close up of the protagonist tied to a chair, the shot remains still for a short while, and then pans over to the window finishing with a cut to the title.

Script for our piece - first edit

Scene 1-
INT: bedroom –night                          FADE IN:
A small bedroom. Walls full of pictures of a girl. The camera pans across the room and stops at a mirror. Through the mirror we see a figure getting ready; we do not see the characters face but only his back. The room is lit with candles giving an eerie atmosphere. The music is classical. Quite a dichotomy of the actual situation. Credits fade in and out.

EXT:  car park – night                                            JUMP CUT:

Girl is walking through a car park. It’s dark and cold. She is walking casually. She walks towards the life. Something drops on the floor. She turns around to look. There is nothing there so she enters the lift and the doors close. Edit to a shot of the man in mask walking past the lift.
INT:  elevator – light                     JUMP CUT:
Close up of the girl in the elevator looking forward. She hears her phone ring and looks to see she has a text. The camera zooms in on the phone. There is a text from an unknown number saying’ I see you’. She panics and there is a close up of her worried face. The lift door opens and the man in the mask is standing right outside the door waiting for her.
CUT:
A long shot, of the man in a mask. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a weapon (whatever’s available on the day that is a appropriate.)he lunges toward the girl and we hear her scream.
JUMP CUT
To a black screen where the credits roll.

Final idea- Treatment.

Whe put all our idea's together and we finally decided on an elaboration of the idea 'Masked Assassin' however we changed the plot and the story line and we called it ' I see you'

Media opening. The shot opens with the character of the stalker getting ready in his room. The camera pans across the room and we notice there are pictures all over the room. The camera zooms in on the different pictures and it is apparent that the main character within the pictures is a young girl. The audience have no idea who this girl is and the significance she has within the film. This brings up unanswered questions. We also never see the stalkers face so we cannot identify him, he walks out the door and we notice he has a weapon in hand.
The camera jumps to a car park where we notice the same girl who was in the pictures; she appears to be walking towards the lifts at the other end of the car park. The camera captures her walking away at a distance after she walks past we notice a different set of feet walking behind her and with the bat in hand. We automatically no it’s the stalker. The girl gets into the lift while the stalker quickly takes the stairs.
The shot jumps to an over the head shot of the girl lift doors closes and the girl presses a button. When the lift starts moving, the girl gets a text saying. “I see you”. She simply ignores the text but seems a bit worried. A close up of her eyes looking around and a twitch to her mouth. She tries to text back but she has no reception. The lift doors open and she looks up to find some one standing in front of her. A reverse shot from the stalkers side to capture her reaction or emotions. Then the shot jumps to a low shot from the angle of the bat. The man steps forward and the shot jumps to black and the title appear.
The shot to open to a dim lit room and we see a close up of the girls hands and legs which are tied to the chair that she’s sitting at. She stirs and begins to wake. She then notices that her legs and arms are tied. Then she looks around the room and the camera mimics her blurred vision. Then clarity at the figure sitting opposite her. Then cut to black
